Things You Didn’t Know About Singapore’s MRT System

Slated to be opened by December 2019, Canberra station will be a new addition along the North-South line between Sembawang and Yishun stations. It will serve residents in the northern coast of Singapore. The station is named after the area where Australian, British and New Zealand navies repair and refuel their ships near the old British Naval Base. The station is second after Dover station to be added to an existing MRT line.

The only station with a name starting with a lowercase letter and having a hyphen within is none other than one-north MRT. The name was inspired by the fact that Singapore is geographically situated one degree north of the equator. The station is surrounded by buildings with similar sounding names, such as Fusionopolis, Galaxis, Innovis, and Solaris.
